Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

Designed specifically for ferromagnetic materials, magnetic particle inspection is our primary defense against hidden surface and near-surface structural discontinuities.

  • Our Process: We induce a powerful magnetic field into components like crankshaft journals, connecting rods, or heavy gear teeth, and apply specialized magnetic particles. Any surface-breaking or sub-surface crack disrupts the magnetic path, drawing the particles to the flaw and creating a highly visible indication under specialized lighting.
  • Common Applications: Inspecting engine blocks, shaft fillets, turbine components, and high-stress weldments.

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) & Bond Verification

Ultrasonic inspection utilizes high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into heavy, thick-walled metals and industrial castings.

  • Our Process: Our technicians guide an advanced transducer across the component surface, sending sound waves through the material. Internal flaws, voids, or thickness variations reflect the sound energy back differently, allowing us to accurately map out internal volumetric defects that radiography or visual checks miss.
  • Babbitt Testing Specialty: We utilize specialized UT arrays to verify 100% molecular bond continuity between cast Babbitt metal linings and their rigid backing shells, guaranteeing fluid-film bearing reliability.

Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

For non-magnetic metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and bronze castings, liquid penetrant inspection provides highly sensitive surface defect detection.

  • Our Process: We apply a specialized, high-visibility dye penetrant to the clean component surface, allowing it to draw into any microscopic cracks via capillary action. After removing the excess surface dye, a developer is applied, drawing the trapped liquid out to reveal the exact length and path of the surface flaw.
